☾ What is Tallow?
Tallow is rendered sacred leaf fat, or suet, which protects the kidneys and other internal organs of animals like cow, bison, and venison.
At wild melts, we render the suet by melting it down with a very long, “low and slow” method to protect the fat from being stripped of nutrients and ensure no oxidation occurs.
☾ Why grass fed grass finished? Why pasture raised? Why regenerative? Why organic?
Here are a handful of reasons why intentionally sourcing your tallow with these regenerative standards matters:
Animals (and humans) can store toxins in their fat
When animals have the space and freedom to roam and eat grass that is pesticide / glyphosate free, they will live stronger and healthier lives
Sourcing from conventional food lot cattle is adding to the problem instead of being part of the regenerative solution
When these animals are GFGF, organic, and pasture raised — the tallow is packed with extraordinary nutrients like CLA, vitamins A, D, K, E, B12
Regenerative Agriculture supports the planet by improving soil health through the process of moving carbon from the earth’s atmosphere back into the soil
☾ What can Tallow be used for?
Honestly, what can Tallow not be used for? When the tallow is sourced ethically from organic grass fed grass finished (GFGF) animals, the possibilities are endless.
Moisturize / cleansing the skin
Makeup remover
Wound healing: surgical scarring, open skin, infections, burns
Healing irritated skin: eczema, bacterial-based acne
Dog skin healing
Scalp nourishment
Baby skin support: diaper rashes, cradle cap, moisturizer
High heat cooking
☾ How long have humans been using Tallow?
History time.
The practice of utilizing animal fat and tallow goes back all the way to 500 B.C
Tallow has been used for centuries to heal and nourish the skin. The practice of using tallow in the wild melts way is absolutely a borrowed ancient science that we are incredibly grateful for every single day. Tallow has been used for centuries for cooking, candle making, soap, and skin salves.
☾ Fat is good for you & your skin
That’s right — fat is good for you and should not be avoided. Unfortunately, there was a tremendous amount of time and money that went into the “fat is bad for you” campaign. However, fat is 1 of the 3 macronutrients humans need to thrive.
Putting clean fats like GFGF tallow topically can support the skin barrier function along with having anti-inflammatory properties, moisture retention and strengthening cell membranes of the skin
Consuming healthy fats like Omega 3 fatty acids from foods like wild-caught fish, nuts, tallow, ghee, seeds, extra virgin cold pressed olive oil
Fats to avoid consuming / avoid putting on skin: trans fat, seed oils (hydrogenated oils like sunflower oil, rapeseed oil, canola oil)
The reason why wild melts made tallow the star of the show for each product is because of the wildly beautiful benefits that it has for the skin. Here’s why tallow is rad:
Tallow is highly similar to the skin’s sebum and lipids (which is where your skin’s moisture comes from)
Pasture-raised grass fed grass finished tallow has a structure that mimics the skin’s natural lipid and sebum production (which means the skin doesn’t have difficulty absorbing it)
Skin healing properties
Contains omega-7 fatty acids, which are incredible for the skin because they help protect, heal, support skin elasticity as well as collagen production
Mineral and Nutrient Dense
When using healthy pasture-raised beef and bison, the tallow is packed with fat-soluble vitamins like A, D, K, and E
☾ What are the benefits of using Tallow on skin?
☾ Why are wild melts different than other skincare brands?
Unfortunately, the majority of skincare and body care brands are packed to the brim with chemicals and toxins that can harm any human’s endocrine system. Most women are exposed to around 168 chemicals daily in their skincare and body care regiment…
Wild melts main intention began and will always stay true to less is more & nature knows the way to true healing and nourishment.
